FREEPORT - Open auditions for "Beehive: The 60s Musical" will be held at 7 p.m. June 7, at the Winneshiek Playhouse, 228 West Clark Street, Freeport. No appointment is necessary.

"Beehive: The 60s Musical" matches big voices with big hairdos. From Aretha Franklin to Janis Joplin, "Beehive" is a musical tribute to the ladies who left their mark on 60s music. Selections include "Respect," "Natural Woman," "My Boyfriend's Back," "One Fine Day," "Downtown" and more.

Auditions will consist of reading from the script, singing 16 bars of music and moving to music. Auditioners should bring their own sheet music for the accompaniment, or a CD without vocals. It is best to sing a song in a 60s girls' group style. However, it is not necessary. No previous theatrical experience is necessary. Production and backstage crew members are also needed.

The production runs Sept. 9 through Sept. 17.
