UMC to host soup, sandwich lunch

MCCONNELL - The United Methodist Church will host its annual soup and sandwich lunch from noon to 1:30 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 27.

The menu will include all-you-can-eat chili, vegetable beef soup, cheese sandwiches, celery/carrot sticks, dessert and beverage. Tickets are $4 for adults and $2 for children (5 to 12). Funds made at this event are used for the ministries and programs of the church youth.

Black Hawk to screen 3-year-olds

SOUTH WAYNE - The Black Hawk school district is holding screenings for 3-year-olds. Parents should contact Linda Figi at (608) 439-5444 ext. 223 or e-mail figlin@blackhawk.k12.wi.us to have their child screened or to get more information about the Early Childhood program.

Upcoming 3-year-old screenings are by appointment only: 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., Monday, Feb. 21; and 8 a.m. to 10 a.m., Friday, May 6.

The Black Hawk 4K screening will be on Tuesday, Feb. 22 and Wednesday, Feb. 23.

Any child who is 4 on or before Sept. 1 is eligible to attend 4K at Black Hawk. Call Diane Goodrich in the elementary office (608) 439-5444 ext. 110 to set up a screening time and date.

Parents who want to enroll a child for 5-year-old kindergarten who did not attend 4K at Black Hawk should also call Goodrich.
