WAUNAKEE - Nellie Black, Darlington; Zach Wallace, Juda; and Emily O'Leary, New Glarus, have been selected to participate in the Wisconsin School Music Association's (WSMA) 2009 High School State Honors Music Project. Black, representing Darlington High School, will play oboe in the orchestra. Wallace, representing Juda High School, sings tenor in the mixed choir. O'Leary, representing New Glarus High School, plays flute/piccolo in the orchestra.

"The project celebrates talent through music by bringing students together to work with nationally recognized conductors and some of the best teachers our state has to offer. The result is truly an inspired performance that is a credit to the student's talent, school, teacher and community," said Tim Wurgler, WSMA program director.

More than 1,800 students in grades 9, 10 and 11 auditioned for 430 positions in the WSMA High School State Honors Music Project ensembles. The auditions were held in seven sites across the state this past February.
