Ready for the spotlight
Branden Lange, the 6-4, 285-pound behemoth from Evansville-Albany, earned himself a first-day bye in the WIAA Division 2 heavyweight bracket at the state tournament. Lange, in blue, is 41-5 this season and will face the winner of Northwestern’s Morgan Berggren and Dan Ausloos of Oconto Falls. If all the cards fall in the right order, Lange and Monroe’s Tyson Welsch could face off in the state championship on Saturday.(Times file photo)

ALBANY - Branden Lange, standing at 6 feet, 4 inches tall and weighing 285 pounds, is an imposing figure every time he takes the mat. The sibling rivalry the Albany junior heavyweight has with his brother and fellow state qualifier, senior Nolan Kicmol, is a driving force in his success.
