Branden Lange, the 6-4, 285-pound behemoth from Evansville-Albany, earned himself a first-day bye in the WIAA Division 2 heavyweight bracket at the state tournament. Lange, in blue, is 41-5 this season and will face the winner of Northwesterns Morgan Berggren and Dan Ausloos of Oconto Falls. If all the cards fall in the right order, Lange and Monroes Tyson Welsch could face off in the state championship on Saturday.

ALBANY - Branden Lange, standing at 6 feet, 4 inches tall and weighing 285 pounds, is an imposing figure every time he takes the mat. The sibling rivalry the Albany junior heavyweight has with his brother and fellow state qualifier, senior Nolan Kicmol, is a driving force in his success. Thursday, February 22, 2018
ARGYLE - When the playoffs come, the stars shine. Such was the case Wednesday as Argyle point guard Kirsten Ostby dropped 23 points to help pace the Orioles to a 68-30 win over Cambria-Friesland in the opening round of the WIAA Division 5 girls basketball playoffs. Thursday, February 22, 2018
