Taking a swing at softball
Girls swarmed the field for Lassie softball practice at Twining Park on Tuesday. The league is for girls entering 5K to second-graders. During the first three weeks the girls are taught fundamental softball skills such as throwing, hitting and fielding, and then the last three weeks the girls are divided up into teams to play games. Gratiot's Neff takes rodeo skills to college, county fair
Gratiot's Klarissa Neff was born to ride horses and compete in rodeos.

Neff, 19, a 2016 Black Hawk High School graduate, got a chance to ride in the Green County Bulls and Barrels competition Wednesday at the Green County Fair before a thunderstorm hit the area and sent hundreds of spectators running for cover under the grandstand.
