New Glarus Athletes Get Sportsmanship Awards
New Glarus Athletes Get Sportsmanship Awards
Six individuals representing New Glarus High School and the community attended the 2014 Wisconsin Interscholastic Athletic Association/Rural Mutual Insurance Sportsmanship Summit on Dec. 3 in Stevens Point. There were 67 high schools from throughout the state representing all divisions. The mission of the summit was to strengthen the principles of sportsmanship by promoting teamwork throughout networking and the sharing or resources. The summit featured two keynote addresses and three time slots for five different break-out sessions that focused on the ideals of sportsmanship/citizenship. The team members representing New Glarus High School, from left, were: Lydia Sprecher, John Chenoweth, Noah Leonard, Brandon Bailey, Gavin Binger and Brittany Spencer Grant, athletic director. With Sauk Prairie collapsing to double and triple team Monroe's post players, the Cheesemakers needed to hit an outside jump shot.

Monroe sophomore Lexi Hilliard answered the call, drilling back-to-back 3-pointers early in the fourth quarter to spark the Cheesemakers to a 41-34 non-conference win over Sauk Prairie.
