MHS Track Resurfaced
MHS Track Resurfaced
Improvements at the Monroe High School track, which started June 12, should be completed today. According to MHS Activities Director Jeff Newcomer, the track was resurfaced as well as the cement pad around the pole vault pit. The old long jump pit located at the southwest end of the stadium was removed. Newcomer also said that while the track work is being done, the wiring for the light poles and the scoreboard are being upgraded. The last time the track was resurfaced was 1998. Doing the work this summer are INSPEC, general contractor, Athletic Field Services, track work, and Voegli Landscaping, cement work. In February, the Monroe school board approved a bid of $145,700 by Athletic Field Services to resurface the track. The funds will come from the district's long-term maintenance budget.
