Apron Tales
Apron Tales
Lynn Lokken and Kris Winkler will be the featured speakers at this month's Monticello Area Historical Society meeting at 7:15 p.m. Thursday at Zwingli United Church of Christ, 416 E. Lake Ave., Monticello. The program "Grandma's Apron Strings" will follow the meeting, which will begin at 7 p.m. Lokken and Winkler have been collecting aprons since 2003 when a program idea was needed for "Home and Community Educators" (formerly Homemakers). Both women are 4-H leaders, master gardeners, quilters and barn-quilt painters in Green County. They have a collection of more than 200 aprons dating back to the 1890s.
