Archie Myers, age 97, of Monroe, died on Sunday, April 8, 2018 at V.A. Hospital in Madison. He was born on November 7, 1920 in Janesville, the son of Archibald and Helen (Wilkinson) Myers. Archie was a 1938 graduate of Monroe High School and graduated from UW Madison in 1942.
Archie served in the U.S. Army during WWII.
Archie and Wanda Ableman were united in marriage on September 7, 1947 at Grace Lutheran Church.
He owned and operated the Swiss Cheese Shop in Monroe and Janesville.
Archie was a member of Grace Lutheran Church, Loyal Order of Moose Lodge #754, Zilmer Riley American Legion Post # 84, and the Monroe Lions Club.
He also was an avid Badger Football fan and also enjoyed fishing trips to Canada and bowling.
Archie Co-chaired Cheese Days in 1965 and served as Grand Marshall in the 2014 Cheese Days Centennial Parade.
He is survived by his daughters, Marilyn (William) Smithyman of Menomonee Falls; Carolyn (John) Fredriksen of Franklin; and Deborah Myers of Lake in the Hills, IL; 1 granddaughter, Rachel (Kyle Miller) Smithyman of Menomonee Falls.
He is preceded in death by his parents, wife, Wanda; brothers, Russell and Blythe; and sister, Mildred Meyer.
Memorial services will be 11:00 a.m. Friday, April 13, 2018 at Grace Lutheran Church with Pastor John Tabaka officiating.
Visitation will be Friday, April 13th, from 9:00 a.m. until time of service at the church.
Shriner-Hager-Gohlke funeral home is serving the family.

Archie was a good man and will be missed. I saw him at Witch Bay Camp many times in Canada, and enjoyed his friendship in Monroe when I used to travel there for Great Northern Corporation.
