He married Karen Kubly Erickson on March 3, 1978 at St. John's United Church of Christ. Ken joined his father in farming and together they raised one of the most outstanding dairy herds in Green County. Following his retirement from farming in 1981, Ken worked for Studer Super Service, Color Putty, and was employed as a messenger for the Swiss Colony for 18 years. He loved watching all of his grandchildren's activities and events. He was a member of St. John's United Church of Christ and the National Holstein Association where he served on the Sire Selection Committee. Ken enjoyed playing slowpitch when he was younger, golfing, wintering with Karen in Arizona, and traveling with friends Larry and Joy Olson.

He is survived by his wife, Karen Wyss of Monroe; four daughters, Angela Hellenbrand (Kenny Ramm) of New Glarus, Amy (Joe) Boland of Blanchardville, Dawn (Dale) Meier of Monroe, and Dana (Jeff) Felder of Oxford, PA; ten grandchildren, Tyler (Ashley) Marty, Gavin Wels, Abbey Felder, Chase Hellenbrand, Joey Boland, Cade Hellenbrand, Rachel Meier, Jacob Meier, Maddie Boland, and Libby Felder; a greatgrandson, Kaynen Marty; a sister, Jean (Gus) Bonier and their children, Laurie (Randy) Sommerfeldt and Bill Bonier, all of Brodhead. He was preceded in death by his parents; and first wife, Maxi.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, January 11, 2018, at 12:00 p.m., at St. John's United Church of Christ, Monroe, with Rev. Todd Hackman officiating. Interment with military rites will follow in Greenwood Cemetery, Monroe. Visitation will be at the church on Thursday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services. In lieu of flowers a memorial fund will be established in Ken's name for the Monroe Clinic Hospice. The Newcomer Funeral Home, Monroe, is assisting the family.
