Ken grew up on the Franklin Cheese Factory and farming on the Krebs home farm on Franklin Road in Monroe. Helping his Dad, at 14 years old he was driving milk truck collecting the milk from the farmers for the cheese factory and worked right along with the grown hired men making cheese. Ken was a member of the Monroe area boxing team where he was a golden glove fighter. Ken was in the Monroe class of 1956, he was on the football team, chorus, and the operetta in his high school years. Ken joined the National Guard at 17 and served approximately 3 years and the Navy for a short time but was medically discharged. Ken always had a love for singing which was his inspiration for joining the Navy, he wanted to be a member of the Blue Jacket Choir. He belonged to the Monroe Barber Shop Quartet. He farmed the majority of his younger years until having to sell out in 1980 due to health issues. Over the years Ken worked at Chrysler in Belvedere, Swiss Colony in Monroe, Eagles in Beloit as a meat cutter, Monroe Cheese, tended bar at Baumgartner's and was working when the tornado of 1965 hit Monroe, and Carter and Grunewald in Juda. Ken lived life to the fullest, never missing a moment to have a laugh, smile, or flirt with a pretty lady, play a trick, or tell those that he held dear to his heart that he loved them. His wife and family was what kept him going through everything he endured. We truly are the blessed ones to have had Ken in our lives. Because to know him is to love him.
