Michael Marion Janke, 21, of Beloit, WI, died Sunday, June 29, 2014 in Fitchburg, WI, as a result of a motorcycle accident.
He was born November 20, 1992 in Beloit, WI, the son of Andrew L. and Margaret "Maggie" E. (Garvey) Janke. Michael was a 2011 graduate of Beloit Memorial High School where he played football, golf and belonged to FBLA. He was currently a junior at the University of Wisconsin-Madison pursuing a degree in Computer Engineering.
Michael was formerly employed by Culver's in Beloit, WI for eight years where he was known to be the Scoopie mascot from time to time. He was also Snappy the Turtle for the Beloit Snappers for one season. He currently was employed by Best Buy in Madison, WI, as an agent for the Geek Squad. Michael enjoyed wake boarding, snow boarding and many other extreme sports. He received his Eagle Scout award through Troop 608 where he currently held a position as assistant Scout Master. He was a member of Atonement Lutheran Church where he was baptized and confirmed.
Michael was gregarious, yet easy going, with a passion for everything in life and shared that passion with everyone he met.
Survivors include his parents, Andrew and Maggie Janke of Beloit, WI; brother, Cason Janke of Beloit, WI; uncles and aunts, Donald R. (Suzie) Janke of Milwaukee, WI, Daniel L. (Judy) Janke of Janesville, WI, Christopher E. (Sally) Janke of New Orleans, Matthew L. (Dawn) Janke of Carol Stream, IL, Mike (Pam) Garvey of Centuria, WI, who are also his godparents, Patrick (Lisa) Garvey of Janesville, WI, and Lyle (Ann) Garvey of Weston, CT; great aunts and great uncles; numerous cousins; and numerous friends and co-workers.
He was predeceased by his grandparents Donald W. and Marian Janke, Neal and Gwendolyn Garvey, several aunts and uncles.
A Memorial service for Michael will be 2:00 p.m. Sunday, July 6, 2014 in Atonement Lutheran Church, 901 Harrison Avenue, Beloit, WI, with Reverend Tina Koenig Ray officiating. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Saturday in the Daley Murphy Wisch & Associates Funeral Home and Crematorium, 2355 Cranston Road, Beloit, WI. Visitation will also be from 1:00 p.m. until the time of service Sunday in the church.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Troop 608 Memorial Fund, Atonement Lutheran Church or a Scholarship to be established at the Stateline Community Foundation in Michael's name.
