Margaret L. Neuenschwander

Margaret L. Neuenschwander, age 86 of South Wayne, passed away Saturday, May 3, 2014. She was born on February 24, 1928 in Adams Township, the daughter of Alvin and Clara (Evanstad) Severson. She graduated from Argyle High School in 1945, Green County Normal School in 1947 and U.W. Platteville in 1970 with a degree in Elementary Education. Margaret married Ralph Neuenschwander on October 4, 1947 in Argyle. Margaret taught in Blaisdale, Riverside, Gratiot and Woodford Elementary Schools. She was a member of Our Saviors Lutheran Church in South Wayne. Margaret was a devoted wife, after retiring from teaching; she farmed with Ralph for the last 35 years. She took great pride in her yard, gardening and enjoyed bird watching. Her house was always tidy and her kitchen skills were her true joy. There were always hot, homemade dinners for the farm crew and each meal always included a dessert and pie was her specialty.

She is survived by her husband, Ralph of South Wayne; 3 children: Marcia (Stephen) Teale of Brodhead, Anita (Steve) Rygh of South Wayne, and Brian (Mary) Neuenschwander of South Wayne; grandchildren: Heather Teale, Marc Teale, Andrea Capaul and Allison Rygh, step-grandchildren, Tina (Jon) Schwartzlow and James Plear; step-great-grandchildren: Jadyn and Mikayla Schwartzlow; brother, Victor Severson; a sister, Ruth Miller. Margaret was preceded in death by her parents, siblings: Orville, Alice, Hazel, Chester, Paul, Dora, Rolfe and Kenneth.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am Thursday, May 8, 2014 at Our Saviors Lutheran Church, South Wayne, with Pastor Dennis Perger officiating. Burial will be in Union cemetery, South Wayne. A visitation will be held Wednesday evening from 4:00 to 7:00 pm at Shriner Hager Gohlke funeral home.
