Kathleen M. Symons, age 81, of Shullsburg, WI, passed away Thursday, March 20, 2014, at Memorial Hospital of Lafayette County in Darlington, WI. She was born October 27, 1932 in Shullsburg, the daughter of George and Clara (Weiskircher) Scott. Kathleen lived in Shullsburg her entire life, where she graduated from high school in 1951. She was united in marriage to Charles Symons on December 8, 1951 at Centenary United Methodist Church in Shullsburg. Kathleen farmed with her husband in Dunbarton until 1972, when they moved into Shullsburg. She then worked at Shullsburg Creamery until her retirement in 1984.
Kathleen is survived by her husband: Charles of Shullsburg; three children: Bruce (Jody) Symons of Dickeyville, WI, Cindy (Merle Monahan) Symons of Brodhead, WI, and Todd Symons of Lena, IL; four grandchildren: Joshua (Erica) Symons, Tanya (Brian) Bigge, Jason Symons, and Travis Symons; four great-grandchildren; one brother: Raymond (Susie) Scott of Dubuque, IA; two sisters: Shirley (Albert) Gensler of Shullsburg and Janice (Tom) Welp of Dickeyville; and special friends: Kelly Cook of Warren, IL, and Jesse Rillie of Lena. She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother: Elmer Scott; and three sisters: Betty Morrissey, Delores Tregloan, and Joyce Pahnke.
Kathleen was a member of Centenary United Methodist Church in Shullsburg and its United Methodist Women. She was also a member of the Dunbarton Homemakers. Kathleen loved spending time with her family and going to the boat. She enjoyed cooking and baking to which she will always be remembered for her brownies and all other desserts.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, March 25, 2014, at 11:00 a.m. at Centenary United Methodist Church, 226 West Church Street in Shullsburg with Rev. Jeffrey A. Meyer officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery in Shullsburg. A visitation will be held Monday, March 24, 2014, from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Centenary United Methodist Church.
