Monticello Historical Society: Farm 1912
Monticello Historical Society: Farm 1912
This photo shows hay making on the Arthur Pierce farm on Monticello's south side in 1912. Just pitch forks and the muscles of both men and horses were used. The hay was raked into conical piles, sometimes called haycocks, while it dried and waited to be hauled to the barn. Weren't those the "good old days" of which we are so fond?
